Strand Cane
 
Seat frames must have drilled holes. Use chart below to determine size required. One hank is 1000 feet and should do 4 or more average seats (each 144-168 sq. inches). Cane can be stained but does not color evenly. Other finishes will make it brittle. We recommend leaving it natural.

Binding Cane
500 ft. per hank. Used to cover the drilled holes. Each chair requires 5 or 6 ft. can be used for wrapping baskets, wicker, etc. No discount on hanks.

Chair Caning Kit
Includes about 250 feet of medium or fine cane, medium binding cane, instruction booklet, and 1 dozen pegs. Should cane an average seat (approx. 168 sq. inch).

Cane Webbing
Seat frame must have groove routered in it. (can also be used on cupboard doors, etc. and is held in place with trim). Add 1" to 2" to size of actual distance between grooves. Prices are quoted per running foot. If 15" of an 18" width is needed, figure price as follow:
   15" divided by 12 = 1.25 ft. x $7.50 = $9.38
Remember to give two dimensions when ordering.  Fine Open is the most popular.

When possible enclose a piece of old spline for matching.  Sizes can be planed or sanded to make smaller. all .20 cents per foot
Caning Supplies
 
A - Binding cane - used to cover the holes. 500  ft. per hank. Each chair requires 5 or 6 ft.   (see binding cane pricing above)
B - Exacto Knife - used for cutting off excess cane. Useful in all types of seating and basketry.  $1.25 each
C - Caning Awl - used in drill holes to make more space. Could also use ice pick. $3.00
D - Cane and Reed Cutter- excellent for cutting cane web and reed.  $6.00 each
E - Cane Wedges - Tapered hardwood. Used to pound in web and spline.  .50 cents each.
F - Basketry or Garden Shears - used for finer work.  $8.00 each.
G - Caning Pegs - used to maintain tension as you weave. Pegs are tapered and far better than using golf tees or pencil ends. $4.00 per dozen.
